Mission Trip Testimonials
Summer 2019
I am so thankful for the wonderful opportunity to go with the team to Uganda in 2019 and work with Cierra! The majority of our time there was spent at the Kabowa School. It was amazing to work with the children each day and see their great love for Aunti CiCi. They greeted us warmly each morning as we arrived at the school. Love was all around and such joy on each of their faces. We all played games with them and just loved on them. I was blessed to go to the classrooms and teach a couple of songs. They love to sing, and I believe their favorite song that I taught them along with the motions was, “My God is So Big.” All ages loved this song. I also read books to the younger children, played games and even had time to play their favorite game, BINGO. Each of us had a turn giving a devotional during an after school Bible Study. The students were eager to learn and eager to please. We helped feed the children at lunchtime. That was another wonderful opportunity to serve the children and relate to them. They love to have their picture taken so we took many pictures of the children and let them have a look. One day, we went on a field trip to a park with lots of grass, animals to see and a swimming pool. Every day was packed with great opportunities to serve these precious children of God. I would love to go back if the Lord opens that door someday. I am so thankful for Cierra and all who assist her in Kampala. It was great to travel with her family and to be part of the team with Daniel Sanford. I am praising God for all involved in Delight in the Lord Ministries including those working in the US to help put everything together.

"This summer my daughter, Josalin, and I had the experience of a lifetime as we traveled to Uganda, Africa. Josalin was excited about being given the opportunity to do a concert for the children at the Kabowa Community Primary School. Being able to be there and be around the children at the orphanage and the school was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to help with the feeding program at the school. That was one of the highlights of the day. I personally enjoyed spoiling the babies. We loved it and we can’t wait to go back."

"Uganda was truly a life-changing experience. From the beginning, I absolutely fell in love with the kids at the orphanage and the school. My favorite part was probably getting to hold all of the babies and doing the library with the older kids. Seeing those precious kids with the biggest smiles and hearts meant the world to me, and I would absolutely LOVE to go again one day!"

God is so good and I am thankful for all the ways I got to experience Him working throughout my time in Uganda with Cierra. He challenged me to grow and also allowed me to rest in Him over the course of the trip. Getting to love the children and lead the women in studying more about Christ was a blessing I will take with me and remember forever. The Lord is working mightily in many ways through DLM!

Summer 2017
Going on the missions trip to Uganda was one of the most eye-opening and life changing experiences. I knew that I would see things that would break my heart and things that would give me joy. While we were there, we spent time with the precious children of the Kabowa community and were able to feed, clothe, pray, sing, dance, read, and love on them. The most special moment for me was being able to see the eagerness of the children to learn and grow; educationally and spiritually. It was so amazing how accepting the children, and even the people of the community, were of us and to Jesus. Being able to truly share the love of Jesus and tell who He is to these children was so powerful. I will cherish the time spent in Uganda forever and will always have a special place in my heart for the amazing people I met there.

I wouldn't say Uganda changed the way I see the world, rather it gave me an understanding of myself and what God has planned for me and the people around me. The aspect that touched my heart the most was P4 kids and seeing their fire for God and how open they are. I loved seeing them light up when someone asked if they wanted to pray or when they got up and danced to songs about Jesus. Everything they did had passion behind it and that passion clearly came from God. That's why I chose to remember and take that passion and openness back with me. Kabowa kids have definitely taken a piece of my heart!
