I LOVE MY PETS!

For all of you who are animal lovers, here are some pictures of my pets! All were captured in one of the photos except for Kenya, one of the cats. We recently added an outside dog to assist the night guards with her good hearing and smelling abilities. Her name is Nala, and she was adopted from the rescue shelter in Kampala. She is slowly getting comfortable with the DLM compound and with Shadow, my older German Shepherd.

PERSONAL GARDEN

Mama bought me a tiller, which I love. It sure makes preparing the soil for planting so much easier, of course. It is also fun! :) I'm not planting too much yet, as I will be in America for six weeks when the harvest will be ready, and I definitely want to be here for the harvesting of the crops. I will wait and plant closer to my visit home and have the groundskeeper water while I'm away, that way I won't miss the harvest.

This is my passion fruit vine, and it has grown very quickly. I didn't realize the fruit blooms would be this beautiful. The last picture is of a ripe passion fruit, but not one from my vine.

SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SPONSORSHIP

Several of our secondary students attend Ekitangaala Transformation High School, a boarding school located about 3 hours outside of Kampala. To reach the school, I must travel two to three hours to Kampala and an additional three hours to arrive at the school. Having a driver for the day does reduce the stress of such a long day of traveling. The kids always want me to accompany them back to school each term, so it is worth it!

SUNDAY TRIPS TO KAMPALA FOR CHURCH

I have a driver who takes me in the ministry van to Kampala each Sunday. Before church, we pick up Mama Fab and several of my children! I'm so thankful they can attend a Biblically sound Church each Sunday. May God work in their hearts as they hear the Truth!

KABOWA BIBLE STUDY ON SUNDAYS

I continue to have Bible study with the Kabowa School children on Sundays after Church. We've been talking about prayer and holiness for the past few weeks and finding Scriptures for them. Thanks to a recent donation to purchase Bibles, several of the Bible study children received their first-ever Bibles. We praise God for those who gave so that the kids can each have a Bible.

The boy in the picture with me is Oscar. I haven't seen him in many years, though he lives nearby. He has grown so much from the time I first came to this community in 2016 and met he and his mother!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

At the start of Term 3, teachers employed by the government schools in Uganda went on strike because they hadn't had a salary increase in four years. This impacted Masiko, the local government school near my home, as well. Several classes were without teachers for the first couple of weeks of school. I visited the kids during the second week of term 3 (the week of September 22) during their lunch time. The head teacher asked if I was going to help teach Bible study or read to one of the classes to help cover the classes without teachers. So, I returned on Thursday and Friday of that week to teach Primary 3, like 3rd grade, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. On the first day, I taught an English class and worked on some grammar work. On the second day, I taught a reading class by reading a story to them and asking them questions to help with reading comprehension. I only sent 2 kids to the head teacher's office on the first day; everyone listened well on the second day. Haha! Teacher Aunt Cici doesn't play!

Using my weed eater, I slashed the path from Mama Dora's to the borehole, where the community passes when they fetch water! Notice the difference in the before and after pictures of part of the path!

VILLAGE BIBLE STUDY ON SATURDAYS

Bible Study in the village is on Saturday afternoons. We are learning the same lessons as the Kabowa Bible study, except a bit slower because they struggle to understand English.

I'm thankful to have two of our secondary sponsored children, Edrinah and Jovan, attending a nearby secondary boarding school. Their situation is unique as their mom is handicapped and lives within an hour of this school. Having the two children in this nearby school gives the mom a better opportunity to visit the children during Visitation Days. Having the children nearby allows them to grow spiritually, as the school lets me "check them out" on Saturdays and Sundays so they can attend Bible study and church with me. I am very thankful for this situation.

During the village Bible study on Saturdays, Edrinah and Jovan help me translate the lessons in Luganda, and I praise God that they love serving others and enjoy helping me lead Bible study. Edrinah loves people and is here with Gift, one of Mama Dora's children.

PRAY FOR THE FUTURE VILLAGE BIBLE STUDY FOR ADULTS

Recently, I met with two of the elders from the church I have been attending for almost 5 years. I have a strong desire to have Biblical teaching available here in the village where I live. Prayerfully, next year we can partner with my church to begin a weekly Bible study for adults here in the community. I am so excited for my people to hear the Truth consistently. I know God will use this to fulfill His purposes and change the hearts of these people who need the Truth!
