Future Projects

Future donations to the building program will be used to build a retaining wall behind the two classroom blocks, which is necessary to prevent erosion and damage to the foundations. We also must build student latrines. There are many groundskeeping projects, such as leveling and landscaping the school's compound, to be completed before we start the Pre-Primary Section in 2027. We also have a project to clear the thick brush on the lower part of the property.

Trinity Chapel and Classroom Block

The construction team returned to the DLM property on Tuesday, June 30. The exterior plastering is now happening for the Trinity Chapel, sponsored by Nevils Trinity Baptist Church. He has provided full funding, and we should have the completed chapel before the end of the year. Praise the Lord!

The construction workers call me “Madam,” and they know that when "Madam" comes to visit them while they’re working, I’m going to ask them about the Gospel message. We review the Gospel message each time, with me asking them questions. One of the workers even remembered most of the Gospel message after being away for a month! Glory to God! Now may He use His Word to change their hearts and save them.

The electrical team also arrived on the same day and began chiseling the walls of the second classroom block in preparation for wiring the building.

We thank God for His provisions!

Half-Acre Plot Purchased for Adult Bible Study

DLM recently purchased a half-acre plot near the 17-acre compound where we are now hosting a weekly adult Bible study. I am especially thankful for a deacon from my church who faithfully comes each week to lead the study. We pray that the Lord enables us to plant a church on this property with the help of my church in Kampala. We know it is in God's timing, and we must trust Him.

Each week, Delight in the Lord Ministries rents a tent and chairs from a local businessman, who sets it all up for us.

It's wonderful to see one of my neighbors, Erisa, who also works on the property, so eager to attend Bible study each week. He remembers when it's Bible study day without me ever having to remind him. Several weeks after the Bible study began, Erisa persuaded his father to come as well. Both Erisa and his father continue to attend each week.

When I first began talking with Erisa about Christ, his understanding of salvation was far from the truth. He believed that anyone who was generally a good person could enter heaven, as long as they had not committed a serious sin such as murder. Now, he has heard the Gospel and understands that all of us are sinners who deserve God's judgment. He also knows that, by God's grace, those who repent and trust in Jesus Christ can be forgiven and saved. I thank God for the work He is doing in Erisa's life, and I continue to pray that the Lord would bring him to genuine saving faith and transform his heart. Please join me in praying for Erisa, his father, and the others who attend. Glory to God!

We have enjoyed gathering on the new property this past month. Through this ministry, my village neighbors are hearing the Gospel. These are a few pictures from those meetings.

Saturday Bible Study in the Village

We have finished going through the book of Genesis and have now moved on to Exodus. We’ve just finished the Israelites leaving the land of Egypt by God’s mighty hand. It’s so exciting going through the Bible together with the kids so they can get the big picture of redemption from Genesis to Revelation.

It’s also so rewarding to see the kids finding Scripture in the Bible for themselves. When they received Bibles through DLM a couple of years ago, they didn’t know where to begin to find a passage. Now, almost all know exactly how to get there. Something so small can lead to rejoicing at how God works even in the details. Praise Him!

Shoutout to Scott and Mark who donated these shirts for the kids with a great message on them. It’s now their new Bible study uniform! They also gave handmade Jesus keychains for the kids. The kids love them!

Sunday Church Services in Kampala

I'm thankful that a few of the sponsored children can attend church with me on Sundays. We have a specific meeting time and location for pickup! I am impressed that they are disciplined to be on time! The best part is they are hearing Biblical and sound doctrine!

Sunday Bible Study in Kabowa

I continue to meet with the students in Kabowa on Sunday afternoons after church. We are also going through the same curriculum as the village Bible study. I'm able to move through the lessons more quickly with these children because they know English much better than the kids in the village. They copy the notes from the chalkboard, including a list of the verses we will read for that lesson. Then, we search in the Scripture and read the verses. We've just finished reading about the Ten Commandments and have now moved on to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness.

Coffee Plantation on the 17-acre compound

Look at the ministry's coffee plantation. Some of the trees are about a year and a half old, and others were planted in the last six months. The few that are already flowering should have coffee beans to harvest in about 10 months! We plan to harvest and sell the coffee.

The Ten Commandments and the Gospel Message

I was able to visit the local government school, Masiko, on Monday, June 24, and again on Wednesday, June 26, to teach the 5th grade class the Ten Commandments. We also reviewed the Gospel message, which I taught them during the first term at the beginning of the year.

Peeling Sweet Potatoes and Cleaning Sticky Hands

I visited my neighbor, Mama Dora, and helped her peel the sweet potatoes for them to eat for supper tonight. When I offered to peel with her, she said it would make me dirty. Haha! I told her there was no problem!

The sweet potatoes are white inside and produce a white sap when cutting. The best way to remove the dirt and sticky sap afterward is to rub cooking oil on your hands before washing with soap and water. The sap will not come off if you only use soap and water!

Another Exciting Day at Masiko

On Friday, June 26, I went back to Masiko, the government primary school, to teach the kids about the ten plagues God sent on Egypt to show His power.

Afterward, the DLM van became the school van for kids, teachers, and the headmaster, and I was the school van driver! The kids had a netball and football (soccer) competition against another government school about 3 miles away. Many of the kids walked to the school, but I drove four teachers and the girls' netball team to our destination. There are many similarities to our typical middle school away games, but far more differences.

Both the boys' football and girls' netball games ended in a tie. The girls and teachers were thankful for a lift in the van so they didn’t have to walk the 3 miles there and back to school after the events concluded. I'm very thankful that I could be the school van driver this afternoon!

The Passover and The Exodus from Egypt

On Monday, June 29, I was back at Masiko teaching about the Passover and the Exodus from Egypt. I’ve been bringing my Bible and letting different kids read from it. I remind them not to believe everything they hear, even what they learn from me, but they should find it in the Bible and read it themselves. So it’s important to me that they see and read the various verses in the Bible. Following the lesson, they answered 3 questions for classwork, and the first three students who completed the classwork with correct answers received a little cup of milk, which costs about 15 cents each. These kids loved getting the milk as their prize for finishing first. Afterward, they continued to draw and shade pictures depicting the 10 plagues. The winners of the best drawings will also get a cup of milk later this week!
