Today was an amazing day! We placed my 16 year old friend who had a baby last year in a wonderful girls' home. There is even a really good school in that community where she will begin school on Monday! We give God all the glory for the many, many blessings for this sweet girl!!!

Mama Fab, Fab, and the girls came and stayed Saturday night with us. We went to church today after picking up a few other Bible study boys. I'm so thankful to be able to take these kids to a Bible based and gospel centered church some Sundays!

Today, we took three of our sponsor kids to secondary school for senior 1 classes. It is like high school, except similar to 8th grade. They were so excited! We give God all the glory for the sponsors who are making this possible for them. Thank you, sponsors! Going off to secondary school is a big change for all of them. We are thankful God has given them this opportunity and pray they are lights for Christ in their new school. Glory to God!

These are some random pictures from our weekly visit to the construction site this past week! The DLM ministry home will serve as Cierra’s permanent residence and as the ministry’s mission team home. We are so very thankful for every one who has given to make this home possible. Glory to God alone!!

Jackfruit trees are plentiful on the ministry property. The workers are enjoying them. Mama Fab often prepares and shares her jackfruit with us.

Brian, Mama, and I visited the DLM property yesterday to check out the progress of the ministry home. We visited the store house and temporary living quarters for our site manager. You'll see the picture of his inventory sheet and a video of his explanation of his job. The picture with the rusted pieces of tin is the fire pit used for cooking.

Plastering the ceilings is a tough job!

The wooden door frames were built off site and then installed before plastering the walls.

Check out the ”live” fence that will surround the DLM ministry home perimeter.

These are some items that we priced the other day at Le Gourmet. Divide the amount by 3,500 to determine the cost in US dollars.

We made a three hour trek to take 4 more sponsored kids to secondary school. We are very thankful for their sponsors who are willing to pay for their Senior 1 year at Ekitangaala Transformation High School. This is a wonderful opportunity for these children. Here are some pictures from our day! Glory to God Alone!

Brian took us to downtown Kampala to purchase items for the ministry home. We bought hinges for the doors, handles for cabinets, handles/locks for all interior and exterior doors and latches for the two screen doors. Brian delivered the handles/locks for the exterior doors to the metal worker who is building the doors and windows. Windows and doors should be put in place Saturday and Monday if all goes as planned. Brian also met with the power company this week to secure two meter boxes. The electric company did a final inspection of the poles and power lines at the property so now the meter boxes should be delivered in 7 days. Glory to God!!

We had a busy day! We first dropped by the Kabowa community to pick up Edrinah, her mama, and all of her requirements for her senior 1 year of secondary school (high school). Mama Edrinah had polio as a child and has been unable to walk since the age of 8. This mama is so grateful and thankful to God and to those who are helping her and her two kids. We then drove an hour to make a home visit with one of our sponsored P7 kids. The visit was short as our next destination was New Hope High School so we could get Edrinah enrolled in school and settled in her dormitory. Glory to God!

Monday, February 20, 2023

We made a trip to the ministry property today. We left at 6:30 a.m. to avoid jam (traffic). We always make a pit stop in Jalia City for a restroom break, chapti, tea, snacks, and Endiro coffee! The first 6 photos are from our stop. If you want to calculate the cost of fuel, you must convert liters to gallons. Unleaded fuel is 5,080 Ugandan shillings per liter.

The rest of the pictures are random shots from our journey to and from the ministry property!

The videos show the progress on the ministry home. The construction team was plastering the walls, creating the crown molding, and chiseling out spaces to insert the window frames.

Today, we went to see the ministry house. The construction team has finished plastering the inside of the house. The process of screeding, smoothing out the concrete floors, in preparation for tiling has also been completed. We had planned to write scripture on the foundation today, but the concrete was too damp. The team has started plastering the outside. The tile team came on site today and began laying tile. We will go again on Monday to see one of the rooms that should have floor and wall tiles completed. Glory to God for the progress and His blessings!

Today was a very exciting day at the ministry home! Mama and I wrote scripture on the foundation! We designed the kitchen cabinets and closet wardrobes with the carpenter, and we also worked with the tile technician. Plastering continues on the exterior walls. It's been a very busy but productive day. Glory to God Alone!

Mama flew out of Entebbe, Uganda on Monday around midnight and finally reached back home in America safely on Tuesday afternoon. We thank God for the safe journey and the time He allowed her to be here with us!!
